Botanical Practice

Nature,
re-composed.

Real botanical material remains visible in the finished work: petals, leaves, stems and their natural variation become both image and substance.

The work begins with observation, preservation and selection—not with a decorative motif.

Tricia Woo works with pressed and preserved plant material, arranging natural fragments into pictorial compositions. The material’s own structure, ageing and texture remain part of the work rather than being concealed.

Tricia Woo is a Malaysian botanical artist whose practice developed through floristry, botanical study and painterly composition.

About Tricia

The point is not to imitate nature. It is to let nature remain physically present in the composition.

Finished works retain the evidence of their material: irregular edges, veins, fibres, colour variation and the passage of time. The website catalogue records that practice as it develops.
